Homeschool Product Review!!

January 30, 2010

Every once in awhile, I’ll post a review that I’ve done for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.  This time I had the opportunity to review the Download ‘n’ Go series on George Washington.  Here’s my review.  By the way, I love this series!!

George Washington rocks.  There’s no other way around it.  He was a fantastic military commander, the first Commander-in-Chief and President of the new America, and yet he was a humble Christian servant who longed to return to his farm.  How do I know all this?  I just read through Amanda Bennett’s Download ‘n’ Go unit study on General Washington.

In just five short days you will learn about the man himself, how he grew up, his accomplishments and in the process you can teach your children many life building, character enhancing traits (leadership, honesty, integrity, courage, perseverance) that every child (and adult for that matter) should know.

There’s so much to learn about this wonderful man, one of the leading forefathers of our great nation.  I can’t think of a better way to learn about him than through this new unit study.  From vocabulary words to fractions, cherry pies to geography, online games, video snippets and monuments – this unit study has it all (even includes a timeline and all the lapbooking material you’ll need).  I really appreciate all the links and book titles that help make this unit study even easier to prepare for.  Quite honestly, there is no preparation other than gathering the books and the few minor supplies (like crayons and glue).  Check your library for the books, gather your supplies and prepare for a week’s adventure learning about the greatest president this country has ever had.
