The Cows

January 12, 2010

Our home sits about 15 feet away from the neighbor’s fence line where he’s had several cows on it for a few years now.  We don’t have any cows or horses of our own, so we feed our neighbors when we get the chance.

The Cows (Chewy's on the right)

Last week the cows were waiting at the fence when I went outside to throw out the vegetable scraps on the compost, which sits right next to the fence.  Chewy, the bull, came up to me and patiently waited for some food.  Mind you, I’ve never been that close to Chewy before and he’s certainly never come up to me.  So, I gave him the leftover lettuce, celery, etc. and he ate it up.  After I ran out (several trips to the fridge later), they waited, in line, for about an hour, hoping for more.  How do you tell a one-ton bull that you don’t have anymore?
