Buttermilk Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup butter or shortening
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450°. Lightly grease a 9×6 pan or small cookie sheet. Combine dry ingredients in bowl. Cut in the butter/shortening. Blend in buttermilk. Put dough on floured board, but do not over handle. Gently pat out to ½ inch thickness. Cut dough with a biscuit cutter (any size will work). Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Note: This recipe easily doubles or triples. Bake now or freeze some for later.
